Wrestler shot dead in arena; three nabbed

Keshav of Garh Mirakpur village was shot dead by three armed youths during a wrestling competition at Juan village in the district on Friday. A young wrestler, he had won the gold medal in a state-level wrestling competition.

The accused were identified as Dinesh of Juan, Sahil of Karsola in Jind and a minor of Karewri village in the district. They were nabbed by villagers and other wrestlers participating in the competition.

After receiving information, the police reached the spot and took Keshav to the BPS Women Medical College in Khanpur Kalan. He breathed his last on the way.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to having murdered Keshav because of old enmity with one of them. A case of murder was registered at the Murthal police station.
