Rohtak, June 18
Following the directives of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Haryana Police has been formed to probe the killing of a mother-son duo in Ponkhari Kheri village (Jind) around seven years ago.
A reward of Rs 1 lakh has also been announced for providing information leading to the arrest of the killers.
Rohtak DSP Tahir Hussain, Inspector Yashwant and Sub-Inspector (SI) Jaideep Singh would be the members of the SIT, said the police spokesman.
Sumitra and her adopted son Vijay were murdered by unidentified persons on August 20, 2012. The case was initially investigated by the Jind police and later by the crime branch. However, the killers could not be identified during the investigations.
