The police have busted a four-member honeytrap gang for allegedly trying to extort money from the chief accountant of five-star hotel here. One of the accused allegedly filed a fake rape case against the chief accountant and then sought Rs1 crore to change her statement in court.
A victim’s friend in a police complaint said, “My friend got in touch with a woman through a spa manager. On October 3, she called my friend to her room in DLF-III. The next day, she filed a fake rape case against my friend. When he told me about the case, we met the woman (identified as Shahna), who offered to change her statement in court in return for Rs1 crore.”
The victim and his friend approached the police, who laid a trap and arrested the accused from Sector 23 here on Monday.
The accused have been identified as Shahna, a native of Jodhpur; Sayyed Rahat Ali Jaidi, a resident of Ghaziabad; and Gurugram residents Alka and Seema.
They have been booked under Sections 384 (extortion), 389 (putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt in order to commit extortion) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC at the DLF-III police station.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Karan Goel said the police were conducting raids to nab other members of the gang.
