ROHTAK: Head Constable Promila of Rohtak police has brought laurels to the state by bagging the top honours in a wrestling event at the World Police and Fire Games held in Los Angeles, USA, recently.

Head Constable Promila of Rohtak police has brought laurels to the state by bagging the top honours in a wrestling event at the World Police and Fire Games held in Los Angeles, USA, recently.

Promila, who won the gold medal in the 60-kg women wrestling category, was honoured by the local SP, Pankaj Nain, here on Tuesday.

Nain said Promila was a role model for the youth, especially girls.

Cops from many countries had participated in the World Police and Fire Games held in Los Angeles. There were seven police personnel from the Haryana Police in the Indian squad.

Promila participated in four bouts in the event and won all of them. She won the gold medal after defeating a Russian wrestler 10-0 in knockout.

She belongs to Bhambhewa village in Jind district and is married in Sanghi village of Rohtak district.

She has won medals in several regional and national-level events and has participated in national and international events earlier as well.
