The inquiry into the death of a 22-year-old woman, who was allegedly wrongly diagnosed as HIV positive, has found that there was no lapse or irregularity on the part of Rohru private hospital, which had conducted the test.

On August 27, the woman from a Rohru village died at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC).

The issue echoed in the Vidhan Sabha on August 28, following which the Chief Minister had entrusted the inquiry with the Director, Health Services (DHS).

He had been asked to submit a report within 15 days.

“The report has been submitted by the DHS and it was found that there had been no lapse by the private hospital,” said RD Dhiman, Additional Chief Secretary, Health. He said the woman died of a cardiac arrest.

The report has been submitted to Dhiman by DHS Dr Ajay Gupta. He had visited Rohru and sought details of the surgery performed on the woman at Kamla Nehru Hospital here.

The private hospital is learnt to have stated that the woman died due to the post-surgery complications.

The husband of the deceased had alleged that his wife slipped into coma after she was declared HIV positive by the hospital in Rohru. He had demanded action against the private hospital.

Rohru MLA Mohan Brakta had raised the issue in the Vidhan Sabha, demanding action against the private hospital. He had also demanded compensation for the family of the deceased.
