The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday organised a protest against the killing of its senior Anantnag leader Gul Mohammed Mir in the Kashmir valley.
State BJP president Ravinder Raina held Pakistan and militants sponsored by it responsible for the ghastly act. He said the way the BJP’s district vice-president for Anantnag was shot dead in his house in a village in Nowgam on Saturday night testified the frustration of terrorists to disrupt the ongoing peace process in the Valley.
Raina said Mir was a dedicated BJP worker and social activist who was also known as Atal Bihari Vajpayee of Anantnag.
“Pakistan-sponsored terrorists are killers of humanity and all their supporters will be dealt with an iron hand by the Modi government,” he said while questioning the withdrawal of security of political workers.
An effigy of Pakistan was also burnt amid raising of slogans against terrorism during the protest.
Emphasising that the martyred leader had braved many threats to his life, BJP leader Kavinder Gupta asked the authorities to take a strict action against the culprits and ensure security to social and political workers and their families across the state.
