Clinic’s stock sealed, 6 drug stores found violating Act

Under the Mission Tandrust Punjab, medical stores are under the gaze of the Health Department, and on Friday, a special team conducted a check at Guru Nanak Clinic in Mehringrowal village.

During the checking, 47 types of objectionable medicines were found and the stock was sealed. Apart from this, a case was registered against the owner of the clinic under Section 18-C and 18-A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act1940.

Deputy Commissioner Vipul Ujwal said an inquiry campaign had been launched to provide better health facilities to the residents under "Mission Healthy Punjab". He said strict action would be initiated on the medical stores selling prohibited drugs so that no medical store could play spoilsport with human health.

During the checking, violation of the Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940 was found in six medical stores in the district. He said shortcomings were found in three medical stores of Hoshiarpur, including Khanna Medical Store, Shivalik Medicos and AS. Medicine Center, Vinay Medical Store and Sud Medical Medical Center in Garhshankar and in Herman Medicos in Dasuya. He said strict action would be taken against these under the Drugs and Cosmetic Act1940.
