Phagwara: One unidentified motorcyclist snatched a mobile phone from Krishan Sood, a resident of Green Avenue, when he was sitting in front of his house on Wednesday. The police have registered a case in this regard. OC

Man found dead

Phagwara: One middle-aged person was found dead under mysterious circumstances, near Khajurala, on Wednesday. The police have registered a case and sent the body to the Civil Hospital for autopsy. OC

Award for doctor

Phagwara: An eye surgeon, Dr S Rajan, president, Indian Medical Association (IMA), Phagwara, got the “National Best President Appreciation Award” for best projects for the year 2018. The award was given at the National Conference of IMA, held at Banglore on Thursday. OC

Illicit liquor seized

Phagwara: The police seized 36 bottles of illicit liquor from Mandeep Singh, a resident of Palahai village, and arrested him on Thursday. The accused was nabbed at a checkpoint when he was going on his Activa scootor. The police have impounded the scootor. A case under the Excise Act has been registered. OC

Scuffle between two groups

Phagwara: Members of the Dalit community and the general category indulged in a scuffle here on Wednesday evening. SHO (City), Jatinderjit Singh, rushed the spot to take stock of the situation. The police took few persons into custody, but the allegations and counter-allegations continued even today. “The police are investigating the matter and the statements of both the factions has been recorded,” said Phagwara, ASP Sandeep Malik.
