Ludhiana: Four mobile phones were recovered from jail inmates at the Central Jail, Ludhiana. The accused have been identified as Ajit Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Dimple and Satnam Singh. Shiv Kumar, assistant superintendent of the jail, said during surprise checking of jail barracks, the mobile phones were recovered from the accused. A case under Section 52-A(1) of the Prisons Act has been registered. TNS
Con posing as army officer dupes resident
Ludhiana: A man posing an army officer allegedly duped a resident of Rs 90,000 on the pretext of selling him a Bullet motorcycle. The accused has been identified as Ram Kumar of Jharkhand. Complainant Sahil Kumar of Bhamian Kalan told the police that he contacted the accused after seeing his add on OLX, where he offered to sell his Bullet motorcycle. The man posed himself as an army officer and took the cash, but refused to hand over the motorcycle. The police said the accused was yet to be arrested. TNS
Woman held with liquor
Ludhiana: The Moti Nagar police nabbed a woman with 13 cases of illicit liquor. The accused has been identified as Maya Devi, a resident of Vishawkarma Colony. The police said during routine patrolling at Sherpur Khurd, a house was raided from where the accused was nabbed and the illicit liquor was seized. TNS
Mobile shop burgled
Ludhiana: Thieves targeted a mobile showroom on Bhadar Ke Road and decamped with 25 mobile phones and six LEDs. Shop owner Dalip Kumar said the thieves had uprooted the shutter and stole goods worth lakhs. The police were checking the CCTV footage of the area to get clue a about the incident. TNS
