The Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP leaders staged constituency-wise protests in the city on Saturday against Congress government in state for allegedly failing to fulfill promises. They organised these protests as Congress government completed two years in the state.

District President SAD, Ranjit Singh Dhillon along with a number of Akali workers carried out protest march from Subash Nagar to GT Road. Dhillon said Congress had promised to provide jobs, mobile phones, unemployment allowance and many others but nothing had been done so far in this regard, he said.

BJP leader Gurdev Sharma Debi and Youth Akali Dal President Gurdeep Singh Gosha along with party workers carried out protest march from Division number 3 to Baba Than Singh Chowk. Gosha said Congress had made many promises before Assembly election but the government led by CM Captain Amarinder Singh failed to fulfill promises in last two years.

“The government has failed to provide electricity at cheaper rates to the industries in the state. The farmers are waiting for government to waive off their loans. The senior citizens are waiting for increased pension. The youth are unhappy as jobs were not provided to them”, said Gurdev Sharma.

Meanwhile, SAD leader Gurmeet Singh Kular and Youth Akali Dal district president Meetpal Singh Dugri protested against poor performance of Congress led state government in last two years. They questioned the achievements of government in the last two years and raised slogans against Punjab Government.

Meetpal Singh Dugri said that the Congress Government had not even fulfilled a single promise. “Nothing has been done to provide job in every family. The people were questioning the government for not fulfilling the promises and will give reply in Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
