Congress MP Shamsher Singh Dullo in a strongly-worded statement attacked his own party in the state and demanded a CBI probe into the alleged misappropriation of Rs 6.65 crore from the amount seized from Father Anthony Bishop of Jalandhar by the Khanna Police.
He said the registration of case against two ASIs was a mere eye wash and the nexus of politicians and higher police officials was only trying to save top police officials. Dullo was talking to media persons at Khanna. He termed the matter as a big scam and demanded a high -level CBI enquiry in this regard.
While answering a question, Dullo said the junior police officials were being made scapegoats and the nexus was only trying to save the big fish from the clutches of law. He alleged that the law and order situation was worsening day by day and the murders and other incidents were regularly taking place in the state. He even went to the extent of saying that clever officials were taking other routes to take high up higher posting through unfair meanings.
Dullo stated that he had written a letter to Chief Minister Punjab Amarinder Singh in this regard demanding a stern action against the accused police officials in this regard. He charged that there was an insure feeling among the people of state after this incident and demanded a probe in the case and exemplary punishment to the alleged accused officials. He also demanded a thorough inquiry about the transfer of some police officials some days before this incident and stated that this was a planned scam and higher police officials might be involved in this incident.
Dullo said a stern action was the need of the hour to reinstate the image of state police into the minds of people with a high-level probe and stern action against the accused.
He also alleged that the sale of drugs was still going on in the state and demanded that more steps should be taken to control this menace. He said that there is groupism in the state police and the bureaucracy was working on its own without any fear of state government.
