LUDHIANA: The State Election Commission has announced that the Panchayat bypoll would be held on June 11.

Ludhiana, May 23

The State Election Commission has announced that the Panchayat bypoll would be held on June 11.

ADC (D)-cum-Additional District Election Officer Surbhi Malik said the notification has been issued in this regard. Candidates would be able to file the nominations for 16 sarpanches and 41 panches from May 25 to 30.

The scrutiny of nomination papers would be done on May 31 and the candidates can withdraw his/ her nomination on June 1.

The ADC said in villages where elections were to be held, the Model Code of Conduct would remain in force from May 25 to June 13. The voting time would be from 8 am to 4 pm and the counting of votes would begin immediately after the voting concludes.
