25 to attend training on latest technologies

The Directorate of Extension education, PAU is organizing a two day training course on ‘Latest Technological Innovations ( Home Science) and their Applications in Rural Families’, from 17- 18 January at Kairon Kisan Ghar, PAU.



The Directorate of Extension education, PAU is organizing a two day training course on ‘Latest Technological Innovations ( Home Science) and their Applications in Rural Families’, from 17- 18 January at Kairon Kisan Ghar, PAU. Giving information about the same, Dr TS Riar, Associate Director, Skill Development, briefed that about 25 participants will attend the training course that will include lectures and demonstrations by experts on sculpture making, preparation of papad and varian, developing educational package for academically backward children and adolescents, use of black carrots to make various products and demonstrations on latest innovations in textile waste management.

Beekeeping and precision training

The Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University will be organising training courses on ‘Beekeeping’ and ‘Precision Technologies for Water Saving and its Recharging’ for 25- 30 participants from February 4 to 8 and February 21 to 22, respectively, at Kairon Kisan Ghar. The interested participants can avail facilities of boarding and lodging at Parker House/ Kairon Kisan Ghar on payment basis.

Workshop on agro-forestry

The research and extension specialists’ workshop for fruits, mushroom, agro- forestry, along with post-harvest management, farm power and machinery, food technology and agri- economics that was earlier scheduled to be held on and January 15 and 16 is now rescheduled to be held on January 17 and 18, due to administrative reasons.

PhD scholar brings laurels

Pankaj Sharma, a PhD student of the Department of Soil and Water Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has brought laurels to the university by bagging CSIR-SRF fellowship, a centrally-administered doctoral fellowship by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi. He has received the fellowship for his research entitled, ‘Development of Nutrient uptake model for hydroponically grown strawberry in green house’, under the guidance of Dr Rakesh Sharda, Senior Extension Specialist, Department of Soil and Water Engineering, PAU. —TNS
