The political fight over controversial amendments to the Land Acquisition Bill today got bigger with BJP launching a scathing counter-attack against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, terming as “white lies” his offensive against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government.
Hours after the Congress leader alleged the Prime Minister had taken “loan from corporate groups” to run his Lok Sabha campaign, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad asked him to apologise to the nation for insulting the popular mandate of the people of India.
As he asked him and his mother — Congress president Sonia Gandhi — to explain the “Robert Vadra model of land acquisition”, Prasad also raised a question mark over Rahul Gandhi’s political efficacy as he took a dig at his “ineffectiveness”.
