Gangster Ram Singh, who wanted to surrender before police, has been allegedly killed by his associates, who feared getting arrested in a murder case.
After murdering Ram Singh, they allegedly threw his body into the Bhakra canal. The police recovered the body near Dabwali and cremated it as it failed to identify the gangster.
Addressing a press conference, SP (H) Surinderpal Singh and CIA Staff-I incharge Amritpal Singh Bhatti said the issue came to light when the two accused, Balyadpreet Singh and Lakhvir Singh, were arrested for selling toxicant tablets. During interrogation, they confessed to have killed Ram Singh as he wanted to surrender and he was booked in around half a dozen cases in various police stations.
Besides drugs, the police also seized .32-bore revolver from the arrested accused.
They claimed that Ram Singh of Lehra Khana village along with his associates had murdered Mandeep Singh of Bucho Mandi on April 21 over money dispute. The police had registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC and had arrested three accused in this case, while three were absconding, including Ram Singh.
