“Kala Chashma” fame Kapurthala policeman Amrik Singh Shera has alleged that his song “Gwandian de Dhol Vajda” has been released without giving him credit. Featuring Richa Chadha and Varun Sharma, the song has been making it big on YouTube.

Two years ago, when the song “Kala Chashma” featured in the movie “Baar Baar Dekho”, it became a hit, but no one knew about the lyricist. It only came to light after he narrated his story on how he was never told that the song was going to be part of a big film and the credits were not given to him.

Shera has also approached the SSP, Kapurthala, and given him a complaint in this regard. In the complaint, he has mentioned the name of the singers and the company and has alleged that without his knowledge, the song was uploaded and no credits were given to him. He has demanded action against the singers and the company.

He was recently on clouds nine when he had got the permission letter from the Director General of Police office to pen songs, have his music cassettes released and give interviews to TV channels.

But this incident has proved a major setback to him. “‘I had written the song “Gwandian de Dhol Vajda” in 1990, the same time when I had penned down “Kala Chashma”. A friend of mine from Canada told me that the song was released. I again felt cheated.” He said he wanted a name for himself. “I write songs because I find peace in them, but this kind of behaviour is not acceptable every time,” he said.

Jash, manager of artistes Jora Randhawa and Dr Zeus, present singers of the song and the one who is associated with the Being U Music Company that has released the song, claimed Satpal was the original owner of the song who had the rights. “Satpal had sold the rights to a company in London. We took rights from that company. I have all paperwork with me and all contracts along with an NOC. Why would we release a song if we do not have the rights? Shera can approach me directly if he has any problem,” Jash said.

“I have around 1,200 songs written by me, but will not give or release these songs ever,” an upset Shera said.
