Chandigarh: The Indian women's compound archery team has been ranked as the No. 1 team in the latest world rankings. With 342.600 points, the Indian team comprising V Jyothi Surekha , Trisha Deb, P. Lily Chanu, Muskan Kirar, Divya Dhayal and Madhumita, is six points ahead of second-placed Chinese Taipei. India coach Jiwanjot Singh Teja said, “Yes we have done that... With the grace of God, our team has jumped to the top rank in the world. Congratulations V Jyothi Surekha, Trisha Deb, P. Lily Chanu, Muskan Kirar, Divya Dhayal and Madhumita for getting this position.”

World Junior squash team C'ship: India lose 1-2 to Pak            

India suffered a narrow 1-2 loss against archrivals Pakistan in the pre-quarterfinals of the WSF-World Junior squash team championship here today. In what was a hugely anticipated clash, the visitors, seeded 11th, marched ahead as Haris Qasim and Abbas Zeb posted wins over Rahul Baitha and Yash Fadte, respectively. Pakistan will now meet third seed England in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, top-seeded Egypt brushed aside Argentina 3-0 to sail into the last-eight along with second-seeded Canada, who blanked Australia.

India U-16 football team beat Malaysia

The Indian U-16 football team registered a 2-1 victory against Malaysia in the second international friendly played in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday. After two first-half goals from Rohit Danu (21st minute) and Givson Singh (31st minute) gave India control over the match, the hosts managed to pull one back in the added time of the second half.

Steyn to retire from white ball cricket after 2019 WC          

Plagued by injuries over the last couple of years, veteran South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn is aiming to retire from limited-overs cricket after the 2019 World Cup. “I will be trying to get to that World Cup. But after the World Cup I don't see myself playing white ball cricket for South Africa. By the time the next World Cup comes, I will be 40,” said Steyn.

French Open finalist Thiem sprinted out of the blocks in glorious Hamburg sunshine, breaking Millman's serve twice before serving out the opening set in 33 minutes.
