8 flights delayed due to poor visibility, passengers hit

MOHALI:Eight flights to various destinations, including Kolkata, Srinagar, Pune and Mumbai, were delayed by over four hours today due to poor visibility at the Chandigarh international airport, causing inconvenience to passengers.

Eight flights to various destinations, including Kolkata, Srinagar, Pune and Mumbai, were delayed by over four hours today due to poor visibility at the Chandigarh international airport, causing inconvenience to passengers.

The Air India airport manager said the Alliance Air morning flight got delayed by around two hours owing to poor visibility. The most affected were flights arriving from Delhi as three of the seven flights got delayed.

According to officials, the flight, which was scheduled to depart at 8.20 am, left at 9.52 am after a delay of 1 hour and 32 minutes. He said the flight had a delayed departure from Delhi at 7 am against its scheduled time of 5.55 am. Similarly, the IndiGo flight from Kolkata arrived at 12.30 pm against its scheduled arrival time of 7.30 am. The flight had a delayed departure from Kolkata at 9.20 am against its scheduled departure of 4.50 am. 

The IndiGo flight from Srinagar also got delayed and arrived at 3.23 pm against its scheduled arrival time of 10.45 am. 

The flight departed late at 2.15 pm against its scheduled departure of 9.30 am from Srinagar. The Air India flight from Pune was delayed by 1 hour and 14 minutes and arrived at 4.09 pm against its scheduled arrival at 2.55 pm. Similarly, the flight departed late from Chandigarh. Flights of Air India from Delhi, Air Asia from Bengaluru, IndiGo from Mumbai and Bengaluru, and Jet Airways from Delhi were delayed between 45 minutes an hour and a half. Air India, the premier flight operator of the country, has announced to temporarily withdraw its morning Delhi-Chandigarh-Delhi flight owing to poor visibility at the airport. Similarly, the Air India Kullu-Chandigarh-Kullu flight has also been withdrawn till January 15 owing to bad weather conditions at the Bhunter and Chandigarh airports, said Air India airport manager MR Jindal.
