Chandigarh, March 1

The excise department has initiated legal proceedings against a bottling plant licensee before the court in accordance with the Excise Act.

The department conducted a thorough inspection at the bottling plant, M/s Zannat Beverages Private Limited, located in Industrial Area, Phase-I, Chandigarh, on February 7.

During the inspection, discrepancies concerning the stock of Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA), commonly known as spirit, were identified.

Additionally, based on the department’s recommendation, the Chandigarh Police have initiated criminal proceedings and registered an FIR to investigate involvement of both the bottling plant and transporters in the illegal flow of liquor.

The department reiterates its steadfast commitment to taking stringent action against any individual or establishment found engaged in such illegal activities.
