IGP Farooqui kicks off Army pre-recruitment training

IGP, Bathinda Range, MF Farooqui on Wednesday kicked off the first phase of the Army recruitment training programme for around 100 youths in the Maur Mandi area of the district.

In the one-year course, the youths will be given free of cost physically training as well as coaching in general knowledge, English, maths, etc. Even they would also be given diet as the police had engaged some NGOs that have agreed to provide diet.

It is pertinent to mention that the Bathinda Range Police have taken the initiative to start a free training camp for those youths who are interested in joining the Indian Army. A few days ago, the IG held a meeting with Army officials and directed all SSPs under his Range to start the programme.

MF Farooqui said, “It was a heart-warming session at Maur Mandi on Wednesday as around 100 youths from the vicinity of Maur gathered there. We have arranged for a trainer for their physical schedule. Besides, we would provide them educational training as well.”

He said they would start a drive to identify young boys, who had dropped their education. We might put them on a one-year course. “It is just the start, we are hopeful that with this initiative other boys will also be motivated and will join the pre-recruitment drive,” said the IG.

He said the aim of the training was to provide employment to unemployed youths and made them physically and mentally fit for the recruitment. The IGP said, “Many candidates sometimes fail to complete their education due to being poor and leave school before secondary education. If youths are interested to join the Indian Army, we can organise a special programme after which they can take higher secondary examination. They will be imparted training to excel in the Army recruitment drive as well.”

He appealed to the youth that any youngster below the age of 21 years could apply for the drive. Candidates could submit their details at the nearest police station.
