PATIALA:Sewerage pipes near the Nabha Gate continue to remain clogged and the dirty water keeps leaking on the road connecting lower Mall Road and Beant Singh Chowk.

Patiala, April 17

Sewerage pipes near the Nabha Gate continue to remain clogged and the dirty water keeps leaking on the road connecting lower Mall Road and Beant Singh Chowk.

Municipal Corporation (MC) officials say they have issued notices to shop owners who tend to dump solid material in the sewerage pipes.

The sewerage pipes near the Nabha Gate remain clogged throughout the day due to which dirty water keeps flowing through the road near the office of the Improvement Trust.

Officials in the Municipal Corporation (MC) said a number of shopkeepers in the vicinity dump solid waste in the sewerage pipes. “They dump anything from eatables to utensils and other material, clogging the sewerage pipes. We have issued notices to office owners who flout the norms, but the problem persists,” said XEN Suresh Kumar.

He said he would direct the officials concerned to look into the matter. “I will visit the area tomorrow and direct officials to do the needful. We will take strict action against those responsible for the menace,” he said. — TNS
