Ex-student leader’s murder: Charges framed

A local court today framed charges against seven persons in the murder case of a 24-year-old former student leader of DAV College. The trial in the case will begin on November 29.

The charges have been framed against Sudeep Pahal, Naveen, Rahul Manda, Sumit Kumar, Sushil Kumar, Ramdeep Sheokand and Amandeep Nehra under Sections 302, 307, 147, 148, 149 and 452 of the IPC and under the Arms Act.

According to the police, Vishal Chillar, a resident of Rewari, had come to Chandigarh to celebrate his selection in the Haryana Police. While Chillar was sleeping in his room, at 6.50 am, the assailants entered the room in Sector 49 and fired gunshots at him. Chillar was shot in his chest and stomach. During the attack, Pankaj, Meghal Jaswal and Ashish Nehra, all members of the INSO, were also injured.

Sudeep and Vishal were holding a grudge against each other since the days they were in the INSO. In 2017, they had a brawl and since then the two groups often had altercations with each other. — TNS
