Punjab batsmen put up a good show as Ramandeep Singh (148) and skipper Anmol Malhotra (104) raised a 199-run partnership to put the hosts ahead by 381runs against Tripura, in the ongoing Col CK Nayudu Trophy, at Dhruv Pandove Stadium in Patiala, on Sunday.

While chasing a low total of 120 runs, Punjab lads resumed from their overnight total of 51/3 to close the day on 501/9. Punjab had a shaky start as the overnight unbeaten pair of Akul Pandove and Nikhil Chaudhary added only 29 runs for the fourth wicket.

The duo pushed the total to 80, before SA Gan accounted for Chaudhary (28 off 32 balls). Thereafter, Malhotra joined Pandove and the duo helped the hosts to surpass Tripura's  first innings total. They raised a 62-run partnership for the fifth wicket, before Pandove fall prey to Arjun Debnath. He posted 42 off 106 balls, studded with six boundaries, to take the team's total to 142.

Thereafter, Malhotra and Ramandeep took the command in their hands to put Punjab in a conformable position. Tripura bowlers tried hard but failed to stop the duo from raising a 199-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

At the team's total of 341, Malhotra (104 off 176 balls, with 10 boundaries) played a loose shot against RA Dey to give away his wicket.

After his fall, Tripura bowlers were eagerly looking to make a comeback. But Ikjot Singh Thind supported Ramandeep to raise another important 93-run stand. Ramanadeep, who completed 148 off 204 balls studded with 18 boundaries and two sixes, was claimed by TR Mandal on team's total of 434.

Harpreet Brar was the next man and with the support of Thind pull off a 60-run partnership to make things more easy for the hosts. The pair was expected to end day unbeaten, but Brar was run out on the throw of JT Saha while running for a double. He left for pavilion on 36 off 44 balls, with two boundaries and two sixes, on 498.

Next-in Jass Inder fall prey to Dey before he could open his account. Thereafter, Arshdeep Singh (1) and Thind (73 off 101 balls, with eight boundaries) remained unbeaten to ensure Punjab close the day on 501/9.  Debnath was the most successful bowler for the visitors as he claimed 3/105, while Dey (2/42) was the other notable wicket taker for the side.
