The police have arrested two persons — Ramneek Singh (24) and Ramanjeet Kaur (33) — infamously known as ‘Bunty-Babli’. Both were dressed as males to dodge and mislead the police team.

The woman is involved in criminal activities since long. She was involved in several robberies and snatchings along with her associates, including a recent case in Janakpuri where they dragged a lady on the road, the police said.

DCP Monika Bhardwaj said Ramneek was involved in seven criminal cases, whereas Ramanjeet was involved in 13 criminal cases.

“On March 8, a 53-year-old woman went to Janakpuri to attend a function on International Women’s Day at A-3 Block, Janakpuri, Delhi. She was standing at the main entrance and was talking over phone to confirm the address and two unidentified persons came on a motorcycle and tried to snatch her purse. The lady, who was holding onto her purse, fell and was dragged as the robbers continued to move ahead. Finally, they managed to snatch her purse and fled,” the DCP said. Keeping in view the severity of the crime, the police obtained the CCTV footage from nearby installations. The pillion rider resembled a female, she said.

Hence, focus was on ladies involved in previous snatchings. On March 20, information was received that both culprits would come near Oxford School, Vikas Puri, Delhi, to meet a person, the DCP said. The police laid a trap and both were spotted. Upon identification by the informer, the police arrested them. During probe, the duo revealed they are friends and involved in several robberies and snatchings.
