The Haryana STF today finally nabbed ‘wanted’ gangster Kaushal after yearlong efforts by KK Rao, former IG STF, and the Faridabad Police Commissioner. The immigration division of the IGI airport called up the police after detaining Kaushal, who arrived in an Air India flight.
Highly placed sources claimed Kaushal was brought to India from Dubai, where he had been reportedly hiding since several months. At 3.30 am today, the immigration department contacted the CBI about his arrival following which the STF was informed. Inspectors Sandeep Kumar, Jasveer, Sandeep Dhankhar anad Pradeep Kumar reached the airport at 4.30 am and arrested Kaushal.
“We had alerted the airport authorities after we learnt of his fake passport,” the Faridabad CP said. The police recovered 70,000 dirhams, 12 mobiles, two fake passports, including a Spanish one and cheque books. Preliminary investigation revealed that he intended to flee to Zambia after having been ‘cornered’ in Dubai.
STF DIG Satheesh Balan said Kaushal, wanted in the murder case of Congress leader Vikas Chaudhary in Faridabad, was produced in a Gurugram court and was sent to seven-day custody.
Kaushal’s detention in Dubai had hit the headlines a week ago. Sources claimed the process began in July 2018 when KK Rao was Gurugram CP.
