A student of the fifth semester of Bhagwan Parshuram College in Kurukshetra was reportedly thrashed by a lecturer during examination here yesterday. A video of the incident has gone viral.

Suraj, 21, claimed that he was taking the exam when the lecturer, from another college in Pehowa and deployed as the deputy superintendent, entered the examination hall and started looking for cheating slips.

“I told him that I was not carrying any chits but he took me to a room where he asked me to strip to my innerwear. After finding no chit, he started abusing and thrashing me. I called up my father and the lecturer misbehaved with him too. With no other option left, we approached the police and sought action against the lecturer,” he said. Suraj’s father works as a labourer. In the video, the boy could be seen stripping and then the lecturer pushing and kicking the youth. College students have submitted a complaint against the superintendent and the deputy superintendent, seeking their suspension.

Suraj said: “People who accompanied the lecturer pressured us to compromise, saying he accepts his mistake. I still want action against him as I don’t want any other youth to face similar action. We have submitted a complaint against the superintendent and the deputy superintendent at the office of the Kurukshetra University VC. The lecturer who thrashed me must be suspended. The principal of our college has also recommended action against them.”

Chandi Ram, in-charge, police post, Sector 5, said: “The teacher has apologised for his misbehaviour and the boy has also refused to file any complaint. If we get any complaint again, we will take action.”
