Rohtak Civil Hospital tops in healthcare

Rohtak: A function was recently organised at the district Civil Hospital, which has been adjudged the best in the country in terms of quality healthcare and other parameters by attaining the highest score - 96 out of 100 - under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) for the year 2017-18. The Rohtak Deputy Commissioner, Dr Yash Garg, who was the chief guest on the occasion, felicitated the hospital officials who have played an instrumental role in the achievement. The Civil Surgeon, Dr Anil Birla, and the Medical Superintendent, Dr Ramesh Chander, expressed gratitude to the medical officers, paramedical officials and other staff members for their contribution.The Deputy Commissioner expressed the hope that the hospital administration and staff would maintain the high standards set by them.

Medical aid for senior citizens

Sonepat: The health authorities at Sonepat have started Senior Citizen Corner as well as Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Clinic in one of the rooms in Civil Hospital at Sonepat. The Civil Surgeon, Dr JS Punia, said senior citizens coming to the clinic would be guided and sent to specialised doctors if required with the help of two helpers at the clinic. Dr Punia explained that this facility had been started as 53 per cent of the deaths are caused due to NCDs like cancer, diabetes and cardiac arrest for want of timely and proper detection. Free facilities would be provided to the patients of such diseases. 

Judge visits old-age home 

Kaithal: District and Sessions Judge MM Dhonchak went on a surprise visit to District Jail, old age home and Bal Upvan. He apprised the inmates about the facilities being provided to them. Man Pal Ramavat, CJM and secretary DLSA, Madhulika CJM and other officials were present on the occasion. He spoke to them about their health related issues, diet and cleanliness on the premises. He also discussed the problems being faced by them and issued directions to officials and old age home functionaries to sort out their problems.

KU prof nominated to jurist council

Kaithal: Prof Amit Ludri of Kurukshetra University has been nominated as the general secretary of 'law teachers' division', International Council of Jurist (ICJ). His nomination is announced by the president of London-based ICJ, an international academic body of judges, senior advocates, jurists, parliamentarians and professors. Ludri is a senior faculty member from the department of law and coordinator of National Resource Centre (NRC-law), under the aegis of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.  

Blood donors honoured

Kurukshetra: NSS volunteers participated in a blood donation camp at Kurukshetra's Pabnawa village. The camp was organised by the NSS unit of Kurukshetra University at Government Girls Primary School. Dean of Students Welfare Prof Pawan Sharma, who was the chief guest, said a number of youth from the village and other volunteers participated in the camp. Blood donors were honoured on the occasion. He said there was a need to rope in more people to associate with such social drives. Organisers appreciated the role of a team of doctors from Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Civil Hospital for their support in organising a one-day camp.

Novel way to honour retirees

Kaithal: The Kaithal district police have found a novel way to honour the retiring subordinate staff. A team of six veteran cops hanged their boots this week and the department gifted them a set of sports bicycles, a pair of sneakers and tracksuit packed in a sporty bag. SP Waseem Akram said the retirement gift was a shift from the traditional presents such as blankets and suitcases. He said the change was on the basis of a suggestion made by a section of retired officials. "The new gift pack will motivate our veterans to stay healthy and contribute more to society. It was heartening to find that the retiring cops and their family members appreciated the initiative of gifts coming with a symbol of health," says the SP.
