After starting the construction work of the auto market in Chandpur colony, the Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Municipal Corporation will soon start the construction of two more auto markets here.
New markets will decongest roads
- One auto market will be set up at Gadhauli village in Yamunanagar and the other at Gulab Nagar Colony in Jagadhri
- With the establishment of these auto markets, residents of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri will be rid of the problems of encroachment and traffic congestion
- The construction of the auto market is underway at Chandpur
Tenders to be issued soon
Soon tenders will be issued for the construction of two auto markets. With the setting up of the two auto markets, the work of repair and service of vehicles will be done here under one roof. — Madan Chauhan, Mayor
One auto market will be set up at Gadhauli village in Yamunanagar and the other at Gulab Nagar Colony in Jagadhri. With the establishment of of these auto markets, the residents of twin cities, Yamunanagar and Jagadhri, will be rid of the problems of encroachment and traffic congestion.
According to the information, the Municipal Corporation (MC) approved the proposal to set up an auto market at Gadhauli village at a cost of Rs 19.65 crore and the other at Gulab Nagar at a cost of Rs 19.85 crore.
The proposal was passed in the House meeting of MC held under the chairmanship of Mayor Madan Chauhan here on July 20.
“Soon tenders will be issued for the construction of two auto markets. With the setting up of the two auto markets, the work of repair and service of vehicles will be done here under one roof. This will also help in getting rid from the problem of encroachment and traffic congestion,” said Mayor Madan Chauhan. He said the construction work of the auto market at Chandpur was underway.
“In the first phase, 21 shops are being constructed in the auto market at Chandpur. In the second phase, 21 more shops will be constructed,” the Mayor said.
There are a number of shops of motor mechanics on the Railway Road from Sant Nirankari Bhawan to Civil Hospital; from Maharaja Agrasen Chowk to Buria Chowk in Jagadhri; and in Rampura colony on both sides of the roads.
Apart from this, more than 500 mechanics shops are also functional on many roads of the twin cities, including on Saharanpur road from Old Hamida to Yamuna Canal Bridge, and on the Saharanpur-Kurukshetra state highway.
“Due to encroachments by mechanics on several roads of twin cities, commuters have to face long traffic jams every day,” said Naveen Kumar, a resident of Professor Colony.
