Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur’s Mandi district has the maximum number of cancer patients.
In response to a query raised by Col Inder Singh (retd), Minister for Health Vipin Parmar said there were 2,337 patients in the district.
There were 29,267 old and 2,859 new cancer patients registered in the IGMC, Shimla, and Tanda medical college in Kangra. Of these, 22,523 patients had been given the chemotherapy treatment. There were 822 cancer patients in Bilaspur, 613 in Chamba, 1,182 in Hamirpur, 201 in Kangra, 484 in Kullu, 2,337 in Mandi, 539 in Rampur, 740 in Rohru, 377 in Solan and 624 in Una.
In response to a query from Congress legislator Asha Kumari, the Education Minister said there were 1,131 teachers recruited through Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs), 4,977 had been brought on contract and there were 3,417 PAT teachers.
In response to a query from independent MLA Hoshiar Singh, Minister for Industries Bikram Thakur said there were 48,455 industries of which 8,914 had been closed. Replying to Narendra Thakur, BJP MLA from Hamirpur, the Education Minister said nursery classes had been started in 3,391 primary schools. — TNS
