Dharamsala, June 17

The Kangra police have booked 248 persons for protesting against the Agnipath scheme of the Central Government for recruitment in defence forces in the Gaggal area of Kangra district yesterday.

SP, Kangra, Khushal Sharma said today that the police had identified 250 protesters yesterday. Two of them were juvenile and were released after brief detention. The police booked 231 other protesters for rioting and were released last evening. Nine protesters, who attacked policemen, were booked for preventing government servants from performing their duties.

Meanwhile, protests against the Agnipath recruitment scheme were held at various places in the district. In some areas, the protesters even stopped BJP leaders.

Meanwhile, the Congress has announced a statewide agitation tomorrow. HPCC general secretary Kewal Singh Pathania, addressing mediapersons at Dharamsala, said the BJP had also played a joke with Army personnel on pension.— TNS
