Sirmaur District Magistrate RK Pruthi today sealed Nahan and imposed curfew till 7 am on July 21 after a woman from Govindgarh Mohalla in the town and her 10 family members tested positive for coronavirus last evening. It is the first town in Himachal Pradesh to be sealed during lockdown- 2.

Infected People Had Attended Wedding

  • An expectant mother residing in ward number 13 had tested positive for Covid at Dr YS Parmar Medical College, Nahan, on July 15
  • During her contact tracing her 10 family members were also found to be infected.
  • All of them had attended a wedding on July 5

  • As many as 150 primary contacts of the woman were traced till Saturday evening and the number was expected to be much higher, said SP Ajay Krishan Sharma

Pruthi said that those appearing in the exam for diploma in elementary education in the town tomorrow would not be allowed to move around and they would have to leave for their destinations immediately after the exam was over.

As per the orders, the movement of local residents would be restricted during this period though all government offices and banks would be permitted to function by observing social distancing and health and safety protocols.

However, officials residing in Govindgarh Mohalla, which has been declared a containment zone, would not be permitted to attend duties. Vehicular traffic coming from other parts of the district would be allowed but no pedestrian movement would be permitted.

The national highway from Delhi Gate till the Govindgarh petrol station would remain closed and the traffic would be diverted through alternative routes.

Meanwhile, the town was being sanitised. The Chief Medical Officer had been directed to keep medical teams ready to cater to the town round the clock.

The SP had been directed to ensure the enforcement of the order. The supply of essential services on the doorsteps would be ensured and the tehsildar has been given the powers of Duty Magistrate.

Five test positive

Five migrants tested Covid-positive at Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur on Saturday — the total tally in district is 63.

Sirmaur DC RK Pruthi said that these migrants had come from Chapra in Bihar and were in institutional quarantine at Paonta Sahib. They were being shifted to the Covid care centre at Trilokpur.

He said that 17 migrants had come by a bus and were kept in the quarantine centre. They are the workers of a steel unit at Dhaula Kuan in Paonta Sahib.
