Jalandhar, February 29

Lok Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Rinku today visited the portion of Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur highway connecting Lamma Pind Chowk and Jandu Singha. He directed the officials of PWD Department to start the repair of this 5 km stretch

at the earliest.

The MP said Rs 27.14 crore would be spent on constructing this road. During his visit, Rinku directed officials of various departments to execute the project on a war footing to provide relief to thousands of commuters who face trouble while travelling on the stretch.

Rinku also met SDM Jai Inder Singh, Executive Engineer Jaspal Singh, Gurmeet Singh and officials of various departments, including the Forest Department. He said a large number of people use this stretch to travel to Hoshiarpur and HP daily.

The MP told officials that construction of the road should be started as soon as possible. Strict instructions were issued to maintain the quality of the road and officials were told that any kind of compromise regarding its quality would not be tolerated. Rinku asked senior officials to regularly review the ongoing work.

The MP said that with the construction of this road, it would be very convenient for commuters coming from Hoshiarpur, including Adampur and Jandu Singha, as they would not need to come to Jalandhar city via the Ramamandi Chowk.

Rinku said the state government was continuously working to improve road infrastructure and the existing paths were being strengthened to connect villages with major cities.
