Jalandhar, February 9
Credit war between two groups of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers during “Aap Di Sarkar, Aap De Dwar” camp in Birring village led to a clash here this afternoon. A party worker suffered injuries on his forehead in the clash.
After AAP MLA from Jalandhar Central area Raman Arora left the camp around 1 pm, some youth attacked one Mahinder Singh. The victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital from where he was referred to a private hospital.
Mahinder’s supporters said the youth, who attacked him, were supporters of Manu Birring, husband of former Congress councillor Parveena. Parveena and Manu left the Congress to join AAP in October last year. Since Manu’s entry into the AAP, the two had not been going along.
Today, their supporters had a tiff over display of their pictures on banners and hoardings for the event.
Raman Arora said: “Mahinder is our old party worker. All those who attacked him will not be spared.”
Meanwhile, Parveena, ex-councillor, said: “My husband is being wrongly dragged into the controversy. The camp got over at 1 pm. The MLA and my husband left the venue around same time. The clash took place after 2 pm. When he was not even there, how can he be blamed?”
