12 Rajouri traders fined for food adulteration

RAJOURI: Twelve traders were booked and fined by the Rajouri administration for food adulteration on Tuesday during a checking drive in the markets of Rajouri, Sunderbani and Nowshera.

Twelve traders were booked and fined by the Rajouri administration for food adulteration on Tuesday during a checking drive in the markets of Rajouri, Sunderbani and Nowshera.

The checking was conducted by the joint teams of legal metrology and the food departments. The drive was initiated against food adulteration and higher prices on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, MA Asad.

“The teams inspected sweet shops, provisional stores, bakeries and fast food outlets in Sunderbani, Nowshera and Rajouri towns and challaned 12 shopkeepers, realising a fine of Rs 2,500 on the spot,” said Narinder Raina, District Information Officer (DIO).

The DIO said the erring traders were found processing, cooking and storing sweets, milk and milk products in unhygienic conditions.
