SRINAGAR: Days after Baramulla was declared a militant-free zone, the police arrested an overground worker (OGW) with a grenade in Kreeri village of the district.

Days after Baramulla was declared a militant-free zone, the police arrested an overground worker (OGW) with a grenade in Kreeri village of the district.

The police identified the arrested worker as Hazaif Ahmed Bhat of Saloosa, Kreeri, who was working with the Jaish-e-Mohammad. He was arrested on Sunday at a checkpoint set up by the forces.

“The police, with the assistance of the Army and CRPF, laid a joint naka at Daulatpora, Kreeri, and arrested Bhat. During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that he has been an active conduit of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohamamd. He was operating in Sopore and Baramulla areas,” a police statement said.
