- As part of its ‘Valley Weekend’ programme, the department of tourism organised first-of-its-kind ‘Srinagar Adventure Race’ here on Sunday
- Tourism director, Kashmir, Mahmood A Shah flagged off the race at 6 am at the Water Sports Centre, Nigeen, which saw the participation of around 100 youth affiliated with several adventure sports associations
- The ‘Srinagar Adventure Race’ saw athletes competing in swimming, cycling, hiking and running
- Hailing the youth for their active involvement in sports activities, Shah said the department
- was committed to providing facilities and right platform to the youth for all games
- “This event is just the beginning and we will organise more such programmes at a large scale. This will give the youth a platform to prepare for the national and international events,” he added
- The sports activities are part of the tourism department’s ‘Valley Weekend’ programme in which it organises musical and cultural events on every Saturday and Sunday. The aim of the programme is to provide entertainment to the tourists and engage locals in sports activities. Srinagar, TNS
