2 killed in vehicle pile-up in Khanna


Ludhiana: Dense fog led to the pile-up of several vehicles on the national highway in Khanna on Saturday morning. The incident took place at around 7.30 am when a trailer-truck rammed into a Tata 407 which killed Ashfaq and Nakemu, occupants of the Tata 407. The intensity of the collision was so intense that the trailer truck dragged the Tata 407 for long on the road and badly damaged the vehicle. The vehicles were heading toward Mandi Gobindgarh from the Ludhiana side. After the accident, three more cars coming behind the ill-fated vehicles also rammed into the trailer and got damaged badly. However, occupants of the three cars didn’t suffer any major injury. Investigation officer ASI Sukhwinder Singh said after the accident, traffic on the highway got disrupted, but a crane was called on the spot to clear the highway. He said the truck trailer driver fled from the spot after the accident and he also took away documents of the trailer along. The ASI said a case under the various Sections of the IPC was registered against the trailer driver and efforts were in to identify the driver. TNS
