Ludhiana, February 18
An auto-rickshaw driver, along with three accomplices, looted gold chain and a mobile phone of a boy, who was travelling in their vehicle. Auto driver did no drop the victim at the designated place, but he took him to an isolated place before committing the crime.
Complainant Karan Kumar of Baba Deep Singh Nagar told the police that on February 16 night, he boarded an auto-rickshaw from Basti Jodhewal. Three others persons posing as passengers were also sitting in the auto-rickshaw, he added.
“When Samrala Chowk came, I told the driver to stop vehicle and drop me, but he took the auto to some isolated place. The driver and his three accomplice snatched my phone and gold chain. The assailants then threw me out of the auto near Shiv Chowk and fled. The assailants also threatened me of dire consequences if I informed the police,” the complainant alleged.
The investigating officer, ASI Balbir Singh, said after registering a case against unknown auto-rickshaw driver and three others, probe was launched. Footage of the CCTV cameras was also being checked to get clue about the accused, he added.
