Migrant workers and activists of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Ram Nagar locality near Bhamian Khurd have alleged that Jarnail Singh Bhamian, a close supporter of Vikram Bajwa, had threatened BSP activists and told a prominent leader of the Poorvanchal Sabha that they should pack their bags and go back to their native states.

Jarnail singh nursing grudge: BSP activist

  • BSP activist Shankar Kumar Sahni said Jarnail Singh Bhamian was nursing grudge against him on the grounds that they had lodged a complaint against him with SAD legislator Sharanjit Singh Dhillon.
  • Following the complaint, Sahni added that Dhillon gave Bhamian a dressing down with the warning to mend his ways

A BSP activist of the area, Shankar Kumar Sahni, said Bhamian was nursing grudge against him and the president of the Poorvanchal Sabha on the grounds that they had lodged a complaint against him with SAD-B legislator Sharanjit Singh Dhillon. Sahni added that following the complaint, Dhillon gave Bhamian a dressing down with the warning to mend his ways.

According to Sahni, Bhamian, accompanied by the sarpanch, had come to his place and hurled abuses at him. He said when Poorvanchali leader Param Hans intervened, Bhamian abused him as well and threatened to send all migrants back to their native villages in UP and Bihar.

Sahni and Param Hans alleged that there was a sense of fear and insecurity among the migrant families in the area over the threats by Congress supporters.

They said the matter had been brought to the notice of SAD-BSP candidate and sitting legislator Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, who assured them that he would take up the issue with the authorities concerned.

The BSP and Poorvanchali leaders have urged the district administration to take action against those making attempts to divide people on the basis of caste and region.

“Migrants have the right to live and work at any place of their choice and no one will be allowed to interfere with their constitutional and fundamental rights,” they asserted.
