New state Congress chief Raja Warring reaches out to former MLAs

New Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Raja Warring today reached out to former MLAs of Ludhiana after his appointment. He was accompanied by party’s new working president, Bharat Bhushan Ashu. He is yet to take over the post and is meeting all senior leaders and taking their guidance to strengthen the party.

When asked about why he hasn’t met Navjot Singh Sidhu yet and the latter also missed his meeting at Amritsar Warring said: “Sidhu’s visit was scheduled at Samrala on that day and a few days ago I had a word with him and every day is fine between us. We will also meet soon.”

When asked about Sidhu holding a meeting separately, he said any Congress leader could hold meetings but the main agenda of the meeting should be to strengthen the party and not any particular person.

“We have to take along every leader with us and I have no objection, anybody can hold meetings to strengthen the party,” he said. Answering the query if he was okay about Sidhu holding meetings separately, the state Congress chief said till now, he had received feedback that he was holding meetings but yet to know the agenda of the meetings. If the meetings are to strengthen the party, he has no issues.

Commenting upon the probe marked by the Chief Minister into the Rs 3 lakh-crore debt on the state, Warring said: “He is the Chief Minister and he had every right to ask about it. The Budget was allocated, and then money was spent, it was not that money was given to MLAs and they had spent it.”

Warring said no analysis about the Congress’ defeat during the elections had been made as it was too early.

“At present my main focus is to seek blessings and learn from the experience of senior leaders and strengthen the party,” he said.

He said the party would be preparing for the upcoming local bodies elections and they would analyse the situation and make a strategy with the help of senior leaders. “I will not make any individual decisions and will take a unanimous decision. In the past, decisions were made individually due to which the party had to suffer but now it will be a teamwork,” he said.

He said he would comment on the working of the AAP government after three months. “It is only a month, let them work and will comment after three months,” he said.
