Saffron flags, blooming flowers, sparkling lamps and holy chants turned the city into ‘mini Ayodhya’ as devotees thronged city temples to welcome Ram Lalla on Monday.
Screens were installed to display the live telecast of Ram Temple “pran pratishtha” ceremony at various places in the city and people from all walks of life gathered to celebrate the occasion.
At Dandi Swami Temple, a massive gathering witnessed to watch the live telecast of the event. The organisers had organised “maha aarti” in which hundreds of devotees took part and the entire atmosphere echoed with Ram Dhun, Hanuman Chalisa.
Congress MP Ranveet Singh Bittu sat with the devotees at the temple. Sanjiv Dhanda, from temple trust, said “Lord Rama belongs to all. Devotees are here to seek the blessings of Lord Rama.”
Prasad of kheer, puris, samosa, laddoos was distributed among devotees. “It literally looks like Ram Rajya, where all are so happy,” said Geeta, a devotee.
The cold wave failed to dampen the spirits of the residents. They thronged on the roads holding “Jai Shri Ram” flags in their hands. In temples, social gatherings, all were seen congratulating one another on the day. Huge gatherings were witnessed at Ram Mandir Kichlu Nagar, Dandi Swami, Gokul Dham etc.
The residents celebrated the occasion as Diwali and lit diyas in the evening outside their houses. Crackers were burst to express happiness over “arrival of Lord Rama” as residents sang “Ab Kabhi Ram mere Banvas na jayenge”.
Ram Temple replica
Hemant Sood, a city resident purchased the replica of Ram Temple, which was presented to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The replica was auctioned online.
Industrialist at Ayodhya
Natinder Chugh, from NC Overseas, who was in Ayodhya to attend the pran pratishtha ceremony, said, “No words could express the feelings. The experience was beyond imagination. I don’t have words to express. It is like Ram Rajya here at Ayodhya," said Chugh.

Ram Temple consecration ceremony was telecast at various areas on big screens where the residents watched the entire ceremony.
Residents of Hampton Homes celebrate
Residents of Hampton Homes, Chandigarh Road, assembled to celebrate the Ram Temple pran pratishtha ceremony. Sandhya Arora, wife of MP Sanjeev Arora, attended the event as the chief guest.
Prasad distributed
The devotees put up stalls of eatables and tea to provide warmth to commuters amid the bone-chilling cold and express happiness on inauguration of Ram Temple.
