In the biggest single-day spike, 40 Covid-19 cases were reported in Ludhiana district. Besides, two persons from Sangrur and one each from Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur also tested positive here.

Six police personnel from Ludhiana, including a sub-inspector from Shimlapuri, who is already under home quarantine, tested positive. She is asymptomatic. A woman constable posted at the Shimlapuri police post is also positive. She is also asymptomatic.

A constable on guard duty at the Vigilance Bureau was sent to isolation after testing positive. He is 49 years old. The other infected persons in the police staff are a munshi of the Sahnewal police station and an ASI from the same station. The ASI is 53 years old and is symptomatic. He was in his hometown of Hoshiarpur.

An ASI deputed with the PCR also tested positive. He was already on medical leave due to fever and had gone to Jalandhar.

Additional DCP Sachin Gupta, who is also Nodal Officer for Covid of Ludhiana Police, said all six police personnel, except one, are asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, five pregnant women tested positive. They are from Sanghowal, Dehlon, Basti Jodhewal, Phase I of Dugri and Rishi Nagar, Haibowal.

Two persons from a truck union of Sahnewal were found infected. They are contacts of a Covid patient.

The others testing positive belong to Mundian Kalan, Salem Tabri, Sensi Mohalla, Prem Nagar, Barewal Road, Vishwakarma Colony, Millergunj, Model House and Durga Puri.

Booklet on Covid-19 released

A booklet on steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection titled ‘Lets Defeat COVID-19’ was released by the Secretary of DMCH Managing Society, Prem Kumar Gupta. Dr Rajesh Mahajan and Dr Bishav Mohan co-authored the book. The Vice-Principal and Chief Cardiologist, Dr GS Wander, Dr Sarju Ralhan from Department of Cardiac Surgery, and Dr Sahil Goel from Department of Ophthalmology have given their valuable advices and suggestions in the booklet. Dr Bishav Mohan and Dr Rajesh Mahajan said awareness was very much required at this crucial hour to make people know about the symptoms and preventive measures to beat Covid-19, and stay safe.
