Three smugglers caught with heroin, ‘ice drug’

The Special Task Force, Ludhiana, today arrested three persons and recovered 1.03 kg of heroin and 310 gm of ‘ice drug’ from their possession.

The suspects have been identified as Harpreet Singh (34) of Gill road, Jaspreet Singh (36) and Harinder Singh (33) of Karnail Singh Nagar.

In a press statement, AIG STF Snehdeep Sharma stated that they had received secret information that the suspects were into drug smuggling for long time and were to deliver the recovered heroin and ice drug to their clients.

Two were out on bail

  • The suspects, identified as Harpreet Singh (34) of Gill road, Jaspreet Singh (36) and Harinder Singh (33) of Karnail Singh Nagar, procured heroin from a Nigerian in Delhi.
  • During questioning by the police, Harpreet stated that he was arrested earlier in two cases of drug smuggling. After coming out on bail in September last year, he again started the illegal trade.
  • Jaspreet, another suspect, disclosed that he was earlier arrested by the Jalandhar police with 2 kg of heroin and was convicted in the case. He had come out on bail a few days ago only.
  • Harinder, the other suspect, has no criminal past.

AIG Sharma said a police party laid a naka at a strategic place where a Swift car (PB10GJ8390) was signalled to stop for checking. During the search of the car, 1.03 kg of heroin and 310 gm of ‘ice drug’ were recovered. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against the suspects.

The police said during questioning of one of the suspects, Harpreet, it came to light that he was arrested by the police earlier in two cases of drug smuggling. After coming out on bail in September last year, he again started the illegal trade.

Jaspreet, another suspect, disclosed that he was earlier arrested by the Jalandhar police with 2 kg of heroin and he was convicted by court in the case. He had come out on bail a few days ago only and started the illegal business again.

Harinder, the other suspect, has no criminal past. The suspects revealed that they had brought heroin from a Nigerian living in Delhi, revealed AIG Sharma.
