Ludhiana: The Division 5 police have booked two persons on the charge of duping a resident of Rs 55 lakh. One of the suspects is a travel agent and resides at Ashiana Colony here while the other is Ravi Goyal, a naive of Rajasthan. Jaspreet Singh of Bhamian Kalan told the police that suspects had taken the money to arrange a work permit of Canada for him and his brother, but they failed. The police have registered a case. TNS
Mobiles found on jail inmates
Ludhiana: Three mobile phones were recovered from inmates of the Central Jail here. They have been identified as Harpreet and Yogesh. Sukhdev Singh, Assistant Jail Superintendent, said during a routine checking in jail, three phones were recovered from these inmates. A case under 52 (A) 1 of the Prison Act has been registered against them. TNS
Cops plant 1,000 saplings
Ludhiana: The Ludhiana police celebrated World Nature Conservation Day on Tuesday. As many as 1,000 saplings of giloy, neem, tulsi and other varieties were planted at the Police Lines and at many police stations of Ludhiana. “We all depend on natural resources such as water, air, soil, minerals, trees and animals to live. We must use them judiciously and conserve them,” said Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal. TNS
