Woman among four held with drugs, liquor

Ludhiana, January 22

The city police have nabbed a woman peddler among four suspects with drugs and illegal liquor in separate cases.

The police Division No. 2 arrested a woman drug peddler and recovered 50 gm of heroin from her possession. The suspect has been identified as Neelam, a resident of Amarpura. The investigating officer, ASI Sukhwinder Singh, said during routine patrolling near Children Park, a woman pedestrian was stopped on suspicion for checking. During checking of her belongings, narcotics were recovered, the ASI added.

In the second case, the Sahnewal police have nabbed Kuldeep Singh of SAS Nagar and recovered six cases of illegal liquor from his possession. ASI Mewa Singh said acting on a tip-off a raid was conducted at Kaka Colony where the suspect had kept stock of illegal liquor. Further probe was on to bust the entire supply line of illegal liquor, the ASI added.

In the third case, the Basti Jodhewal police have nabbed a peddler identified as Ajay Kumar of Ekjot Nagar and recovered 12 cases of illegal liquor from him. Investigating officer head constable Davinder Singh said after receiving secret information, a raid was conducted at the house of the peddler from where liquor recovered.

In the fourth case, the police Division No. 6 arrested a liquor smuggler identified as Ajay Kumar and recovered nine bottles of illegal liquor from his possession. The police said the suspect was nabbed when he was heading towards Overlock Road to supply liquor. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against the suspect.
