Malerkotla, February 7
In a significant crackdown on crime, the Malerkotla police arrested 13 proclaimed offenders (POs) on Wednesday morning. The suspects included those who had been avoiding arrest after being booked under cases of robberies, snatching, criminal assaults and forgeries.
Those arrested were identified as, Daljit Singh Gopi, Kuldeep Singh Keepa, Rinku Pandit, Rajinder Singh Pappu, Raj Kaur, Karanveer Singh, Paramjit Kaur, Mohammad Rashid, Arshad, Shenaz, Rehman, Farid Ali and Bikar Singh.
Malerkotla SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said cops supervised by SP (D) Vaibhav Sehgal and SP (H) Swaran Kaur had conducted raids on hideouts of anti-social elements, including proclaimed offenders, drug peddlers and other notorious persons who were suspected to be a threat to peace of the region. “The crushing success of today’s crackdown has sent a clear message among anti-social elements that their destiny is behind the bars,” said Khakh.
