Farmer leaders on Monday said they would announce their decision on Sunday’s proposal by the Centre by Monday evening.
After the fourth round of talks between the Union ministers and farmer leaders in Chandigarh on Sunday night, the government had offered to buy five crops on MSP.
It had given the farmers time till Monday morning to discuss the proposal among their colleagues and get back to it.
The crops which the government has proposed to buy on assured MSP are three pulses – tur, masoor and urad – besides cotton and maize.
Farmer leaders on Monday arrived in Rajpura in Patiala district to discuss the government offer and announce their future strategy.
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said, “As for now, we are going to Khanauri where a farmer died on Sunday while the protest was on. The farmer leaders will visit his village and then we will be back at Shambhu in the evening and announce our decision on the government’s proposal.”
“The central ministers made their opinion public last night. Our leadership will discuss this and announce a decision by Monday evening,” he said.
