Sangrur, April 4

Members of five unions blocked the Sangrur-Ludhiana road to protest against the Punjab government over lack of jobs and to demand action against local Congressmen who “attacked” the ETT and TET pass teachers last evening.

“Local Congressmen attacked members of the ETT and TET Pass Union when they were protesting during the function of Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla in the city. The police arrested the protesters but did not take any action against the Congressmen,” said Sukhwinder Singh Dhilwan, president of the union.

The members raised slogans against the government and senior authorities for not giving them jobs. “We are demanding jobs as per our qualification but the government authorities are unwilling to hold a meeting with us,” said Sandeep Singh, another protester.
