Plea seeks action against Haryana Police officials for injuring Punjab farmers

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, February 27

A petition was today filed before the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking action against Haryana Police officials for allegedly causing injuries to the protesting farmers at different borders of Punjab and Haryana. Directions were also sought for an inquiry into the incident in the petition filed by Amritpal Singh and other petitioners.

It was contended that the Punjab Police had failed to lodge an FIR against delinquent accused police officials of Haryana, who had illegally caused grievous hurt, damage to property and caused damage to life of those merely protesting against the inaction of bringing out assured MSP policy for agricultural produce as promised by various governments from time to time.

Directions were also sought to preserve all requisite evidence, including grenade and ammunition shells fired upon by delinquent officials of the police, and also such requisite medical records of the petitioners and those similarly placed farmers.
