Tillingyami, Rajesh adjudged best athletes

Rajesh Notia and Tillingyami were adjudged the best athletes in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, on the concluding day of the 21st Annual Sports Meet of Sri Sukhmani Group of Institutions, Dera Bassi, today.

Preeti was named Sportsperson of the Year.

Earlier, Aijaz, Amrender and Manish Kumar claimed the to-three positions, respectively, in the men’s 1500m run.

Rajesh topped the podium in the men’s 200m dash. He was followed by Yogendra in second place, while Kulwinder Singh won the third position.

In the girls’ 200m competition, Tillingyani pipped Preeti to win the gold. Nitika had to be content with the bronze medal.

Kabina, meanwhile, claimed the gold medal in the women’s discus throw contest. Tillingyani finished with the silver and Snehal bagged the bronze medal.

In the men’s category, Mafaz won the gold, while Rafaqat claimed the silver medal. Pardeep returned home with the bronze.

Kanchan, Tillingyani and Snehal won the top-three positions, respectively, in the women’s shot put.

In the men’s long jump, Notia clinched the gold medal, while Pardeep and Harkirat got the silver and the bronze medal, respectively.
